Teachers as Readers: Non-fiction for Readers and Writers
Join us for a lively discussion of nonfiction books to engage readers and inspire writers.
Nonfiction literature is an essential tool for building curiosity, critical thinking and strong literacy skills. High-quality nonfiction introduces readers to real people, events, ideas and discoveries while modeling effective research, organization and writing techniques. For developing writers, nonfiction texts provide rich examples of voice, structure, text features and evidence-based writing that can inspire and strengthen their own work.
Participants are encouraged to bring your favorite nonfiction titles to share, including biographies, memoirs, informational texts, narrative nonfiction and books that inspire young writers.
A bibliography of all books discussed, and more, will be shared with attendees following the event.
When: Tuesday, April 27, 2027, starting at 7 p.m.
Where: Via Zoom
The discussion will be led by Karen Brungard and Bonnie Yanklowitz.
A reminder with the Zoom link for this event will be sent on Monday, April 26, to all registered attendees around noon.
