1:00PM Meet at Hunter College (695 Park Avenue)

1:15PM The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” While we won’t see it, this quote is inscribed on the North End of the Conservatory Garden (at 104th Street) in Central Park. This stroll through Central Park will have its magic, too.

1:45PM From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg

Like Claudia, the main character, who tells us, “Mentally, I'm hiding out in the Metropolitan Museum of Art,” we will have a private tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art that highlights the diversity and breadth of the Museum’s collection, which spans more than 5,000 years.

2:45PM Depart for The New York Public Library (476 5th Avenue)

Participants will catch the M2 from 5th Ave/E. 79th St. to 5th Ave & West 42nd Street.

3:30PM Who Could That Be at This Hour? by Lemony Snicket

In his prequel to his A Series of Unfortunate Events, Mr. Snicket reminds us that “In every library, there is a single book to answer the question that burns like a fire in the mind.” So, we will be on the lookout as we tour, which highlights the history, architecture, and collections of this magnificent Beaux-Arts building, including the historic Rose Main Reading Room.

4:30PM A Cricket in Times Square by George Selden

He may be from Connecticut, but you might be able to find Chester and his buddies–Maro, Tucker, and Harry–if you look closely. If you don’t, no worries, Enjoy the rest of your night in NYC.
