Named for the main character in E. B. White's Charlotte's Web, the purpose of the Charlotte Award is to encourage students to read outstanding literature and ultimately become lifelong readers. NYSRA presented the firstCharlotte Awards in 1990. The recent ballot can be found at www.nysreading.org/Charlotte-Awards for a complete list of books on each ballot.

Read as many books from each ballot that you can. You do not need to read all the books on the ballot. Vote on one ballot or all ballots, but you may only vote once on each ballot. Some upper grade books contain adult issues. Please consider the appropriateness of each book before reading. Ballots must be received by April 15, 2021. Individuals may vote or a teacher may vote for each student in their class. Go to the link above and find the "Click to Vote!" button.

Votes will be tallied, and winners will receive their awards at the NYSRA Conference in November 2021.
